Problem

Problem Area

Developing skills at the intersection of co-evolving technologies and markets.

Problem Scope

Skills developed through emerging technologies and early-stage ventures in the context of information and communication technology (ICT).

Guiding Question

How can we empower people to create the most value for society, while profitably pursuing their purpose?

Purpose

Guiding Statement

To promote a culture of experiential learning grounded in problem-based, purpose-driven, profile-guided, project-oriented, and portfolio-measured skill development.

Envisioned Future

To be the standard platform that empowers local communities with the literacies to understand and the competencies to act in the accelerating world of technology, entrepreneurship, and activism.

Operational Goal

To bring affordable skills-based workshops to local communities.

Profile

Core Identity

We are a platform that equips the next generation of problem solvers with the tools they need to transform their communities through technology, entrepreneurship, & activism.

Core Beliefs

  1. Problems are contexts from which direct action, and therefore direct experiential learning, emerges.

  2. Purpose drives human behaviour; purpose emerges after exposure to a problem context. Thus, purpose is the conversion of an experienced problem into a vision for action.

  3. Skill profiles guide how a purpose is translated into action – they define the format of the eventual solution. The available skill profiles represent the upper limit of what is possible.

  4. Projects are the optimal solution orientation for channelling multiple skill profiles into a singular expression that can interact with the problem context. The feedback loop of iterative testing against the problem context is a deep source of experiential learning that enables the solution to be progressively refined.

  5. Portfolios of projects are the best measure of human development and growth. The portfolio exists as a narrative of human experience that directly captures the problems encountered, the purposes derived, the skill profiles developed, and the projects engaged in.

  6. Skill development directly empowers people. An expanded skill profile has an expanded upper limit of solution possibilities for engaging with problem contexts and for expressing purpose into projects.

  7. Technologies are collections of tools and their associated techniques of use, or skills. Technologies are means by which purpose is enacted in the world – they optimize the creation of value.

  8. Entrepreneurship structures purpose in a profit context. Activism directs purpose towards societally-relevant causes. Together, entrepreneurship and activism empower people to create the most value for society, while profitably pursuing their purpose.

  9. Facilitating the development of skills around technology, entrepreneurship, and activism achieves the greatest degree of collective empowerment.

  10. Skill development is accelerated through the right culture and community infrastructure. Technology, entrepreneurship, and activism are best taught through a culture of experiential learning that is problem-based, purpose-driven, profile-guided, project-oriented, and portfolio-measured.
